12 Angry Men

What did the deliberation process show us?

It showed us that many still would like to see men in total control. They feel that women aren't suitable to handle the pressure of being a juror and having to make such a complicated decision. They feel that they would allow there emotions to get in the way, and feel for they young boy because he was abuse all his life and had the right to retaliate. With me being a woman i feel that women are more capable of making a difficult decision just as a man could or even better. Unlike men, women look at the greater picture of things and the loop holes that closed minded men miss.

How does Juror #8/Mr Davis use logic and reasoning? How did he argue effectively?

He feels that they shouldn't decide in five minutes whether the kid is guilty or not guilty, because his life is at stake. He also pointed out that the kid had been abused since he was very young and they he is a troubled young man. He feels that they owe him the right to think this decision through thoroughly. He also pointed out why didn't one of the jurors believe the woman's testimony over the young boys because they both are one of them. He also points out that this young boy has been abused all his life and that's what he is used to, and the fact that his father smacked him twice couldn't put him over the edge to kill him. He also points out that suppose the witnesses could be wrong, and maybe they didn't see what they thought they saw. Mr Davis always points out the impossible to the men, but he thinks possible and what really happened that night. He also points out that he doesn't believe that hes guilty or not guilty, he just wants to hear more and what others think. He also starts to break down each witness' testimony and points out the things that couldn't possibly happen, but they claim did. His argue was so effective that it started to persuade others that there is a possibility that the young man could be innocent. The other men even started to dig deeper into the witness' testimony and found things that couldn't have happen.

Life as a Hippie on USC Upstate's Campus.

I thought i was really cool to dress up as a hippie on Halloween, but many people thought i was dressed up for Halloween early. My friends laughed at me and thought it was very amusing, but i knew my purpose. I really didn't enjoy people staring and pointing at me to their friends, but when they looked around and noticed that i wasn't the only hippie i was comforted. It was really cold, and the fact that i only had one class made me feel even better. It was also really cold with it on, and that's why i had stockings on and a jacket as well. My friends questioned me about where could i find an outfit like that, when i simply went through my mothers old clothes. She wasn't a hippie but they sure didn't dress any different back then. I even wore it to the club that night, i found it to be very funny and amusing.

Bill Clinton

It was history being able to see the former President Bill Clinton. I think its very good that they go around the world visiting and speaking with college students, even though i know and understand the true reason behind it. Bill Clinton had many great things that he talked about and spoke really high of his wife. One thing that stood out the most to me was that he said that this new up coming president has some big issues that needs to be resolved and thats the war. He was correct because Bush has dug us down so deep that its gonna take time and hard work to get us back up. The thing that gets me the most is that the one that dig it isnt the one having to get us out and i dont think its fair. I dont think i would be able to handle that great big of responsibility, so heads up to whomever does. I do think that Hillary Clinton will make a great president, because she stood behind Bill during his term and everything went smooth. You know the saying behind every good man is a strong woman.

Sex Signal

Sex signals was very interesting because they were very vivid and open with everything. it was very crowed, i was shocked and amazed that people really wanted to hear about sex. I was very glad to because thats good, hopefully they will take it all in and apply it. There are alot of diseases that can be contracted my unprotected and protected sex, aned some dont occur until years after. They were asking questions like how many of you have been naked in the room and never had sex, how many of you have kissed and didnt lead to sex, and how many of you have played touch feeling and never had sex. It was really funny watching people raise there hand, and be so open and honest about it. I learned alot and how to watch out for sex signals that guys try to put on us women, and because i am a rookie (if you know what i mean) i really didnt know much.

Topic

I would like to do the a journey as Martin Luther King Jr during the 1960s all the the boycotts, speeches, etc up until he died. Because you said we could make it as a story and all. If im able to do that would i be able to use I since im speaking in first person as if i were Martin Luther King. Im sure i will have enought to cover 3-5 pages but to make it a little more interesting and to put a twist to it, could i possible focus at the end after he has died him looking over the world and seeing if all he did was in vain or did it make a difference?

Freshman Convocation

Freshaman Convocation was nothing i expected it to be, i thought it would be a time to remember. I knew we would meet the Deans, Chancellors, the President of SGA, etc. The staff came in there with there robes on as if it was Graduation already, i didnt know what was going on. Then various staff members came up introducing other staff members from various departments and telling their positions and others below them. Then there was an address that was given, and that was so boring. He talked about how USC Upstate came about, past graduated students, the new work thats being done, and the up coming activities and programs. I thought old churches that my dad preaches at some times was boring, but they arent as boring as his address. My ideal Freshman Convocation was games and the interaction of the audience, music, and things of that nature. Its supposed to be a welcoming process and that was not a lovely welcome.

Jay Chiat Illusions Are Forever

Chiat means that he believes that the internet is the only hope for true democratiztion, a truly populist publishing form, and a mass communication tool completly accesbible to everyone. He believes that the internet will expose many things that cant be shown on tv and thats being hidden by the government and other organzitations. it exposes much truth that many people try to hide. He also believes that its great communication, especially when you have family and friends near and far. Its also good and accesible for your job and maybe other things that require communication and information from all over the world. He also stated that the internet exposes many things that have been forgotten. He also believes that the internet exposes the truth that many people in power try to hide. He stated that the truth is presented, represented, and re-presented by the individuals who have the floor, rather they are powerful or powerless. It reminds us of the truth that's going on around us that many shame and keep convidential, because it exposes their infermities. I do agree that the internet is our savior, because when i need information i am able to go to the internet. I find out information that i never knew by just browsing, and information that the government tries to with hold is found out and placed on the internet. I believe that the internet exposes much truth because its placed my individuals that have problems with whatever they are stating.
